Visitors to the Edison & Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers will enjoy 20 acres of historical buildings, historic gardens, the Edison Botanical Research Lab and the Edison Ford Museum. The newly restored buildings include the Edison Main House, Guest House, Caretaker's House and the Ford House.
Inventor's Summer Camp - CAMPS

EDISON FORD INVENTOR'S SUMMER CAMP 2024

  • CAMPS: Campers are grouped by their age at the time of the camp into two groups: Grades K - 2 and Grades 3 - 5. Your child must have completed Kindergarden. All camps are based on the current age and grade of each child.
  • TIME: All camps are held from 9am to 4pm.
  • LOCATION: The Inventor's Summer Camp will be based in the Education Center and Edison Caretaker's House, which is air-conditioned. Some activities will be held in the gardens and Edison Ford Museum.
  • ATTIRE: Campers will be given a camp t-shirt on the first day of camp and are required to wear it each day. Wear cool, comfortable clothing, tennis shoes, insect repellant, sunscreen, and hats. Open-toed shoes and jewelry are not permitted.
  • MEDICATION: Instructors must be notified in writing regarding any medication campers are to take during the day. Please provide detailed information when registering your child for camp.
  • LUNCHES: Campers must bring their own sack lunch, snacks, and drink daily. Water coolers are available; refrigeration is not.
  • NO REFUNDS WILL BE PROVIDED AFTER MAY 4, 2024

WEEK#2 June 10 -14: FUNDAMENTAL PHYSICS

From the sound waves of the phonograph to the mystery of light in a bulb, this camp explores the wild world of physics.  Campers will learn how to amaze as they conduct experiments and learn about the world around us all.

WEEK #3 June 17-21: WIRED WIZARDRY

Discover why Edison was called “the Wizard of Electricity” in this exciting camp.  In this crash course of electronics, campers learn about watts, amps, volts, and the power of circuits.  The week concludes with campers designing a light system in their own miniature model house.

WEEK#4 June 24-28: LEGO EXPLORERS

Campers combine mechanics with code as they solve a variety of challenges.  K-2 Camper's will design interactive moving models using motors, lights, and savvy coding. 3-5 grade campers will tackle the most recent LEGO competition field as they learn alongside Edison Ford robotics coaches who will teach the tricks of the trade.

Make it with LEGO’s in this fun camp.  Campers explore rapid prototyping and mechanical designs using LEGO’s.  Campers make it all move as they begin to explore robotics using modular LEGO parts.

WEEK#6 July 8-12: ROVING ROBOTICS

Campers take-off in this stellar camp!  This camp is part space science, and part rocket science.  Campers learn about our place in the universe as they design and launch their own water powered rocket.  Experience is not required, but the laws of motion are!

WEEK#7 July 15- 19: INNOVATION AND 3D DESIGN

Make ideas come to life in this dynamic camp.  Learn how to design anything by using CAD (computer aided design) and a 3D printer.  Campers learn how to think and design in 3D as their creations take shape.

his camp is focused on STEM (Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. It offers a range of activities and experiences designed to spark curiosity, foster creativity, and develop critical thinking skills.
